RIVER VALLEY NATURE CENTER - A new nature center packed with interactive exhibits, educational programs and natural beauty is coming soon. The Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center is the third in a series of four nature centers planned by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission with money from the conservation sales tax.  The Janet Huckabee Arkansas River Valley Nature Center is being built on 170 acres of former Fort Chaffee land next to Wells Lake, in Fort Smith. Wells Lake is a popular spot for fishing and picnics. The chosen site is typical of the River Valley region, and is home to a wide variety of plants and wildlife. Each of the nature centers will showcase the nature, environment, history and unique features of its surrounding area.
